Mama Yoga – Our popular prenatal yoga class, this class incorporates a traditional series of beginner and intermediate asanas (yoga poses), tailored to the specific needs of expectant mothers and taught by a certified childbirth educator. The mission of our prenatal yoga classes is to help you find the balance between preparing for the profound experience of birth, while also caring for yourself in the present moment. We focus on poses that help to ease the discomforts of pregnancy, and to prepare both body and mind for the labor and birth process. This class is appropriate for women of all fitness and experience levels, at all stages of pregnancy. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
*Pregnant women may also participate in any traditional Well Woman Yoga. Our instructors are trained to offer safe and appropriate modifications when they are needed. If our prenatal classes are not convenient for you, please join us in the class that best fits your schedule.
Mama & Baby Yoga- We believe it's important for new mommies to have a chance to continue with a yoga practice, especially if they benefited from yoga during pregnancy. But what about childcare? When you're trying to balance your new family life, and maybe find time for work and social obligations too, it's hard to take time away from your baby to exercise. Mama & Baby Yoga offers an alternative:
This is a class where you can bring your baby with you, but do yoga for yourself. It's not a class where your baby does yoga, although you may want to hold your child for many of the poses. We'll focus on poses that tone the core muscles that have been stressed by pregnancy, build strength in the legs and back, and open the chest and shoulders to counteract the strain of breastfeeding. We'll also work on breathing and relaxation techniques to help with stress and fatigue.
If your baby is between 4 weeks of age and crawling, and you are seeking the balance between time for your new family and time for yourself, then this class is for you!
Well Woman Yoga – A traditional hatha yoga class with a focus on poses beneficial for women's wellness, including anxiety, auto-immune disorders, breast health, depression, reproductive well-being, and thyroid function. Our classes incorporate elements of several yoga styles, particularly Anusara, Iyengar, and Kripalu Yoga. Because each class is tailored to the specific needs of our students, the pace and theme may vary. Modifications are offered when necessary, so that students of different abilities may perform the same basic poses. Every Well Woman Yoga class includes instruction on breathing and meditation. This class is appropriate for all levels of fitness and yoga experience.
Mommy Connection Group - We provide the space for new moms to meet, chat, and share - free of charge. Our vision is a peer-supported group where women can be open about the amazing joys and incredible challenges of the early parenting years. Our childbirth educator is always available to answer questions about postpartum self-care, newborn care, breastfeeding, attachment parenting, and family life, and to provide referrals when necessary. Kids Yoga - Healthy Bodies, Fun Relaxation, Healthy Minds! Our Kids Yoga classes combine humor, traditional yoga principles and poses to teach kids the art of focus, relaxation and self control. Through each class theme, we show kids ways to release energy and/or calm themselves down. These skills are invaluable as they develop responsibility for themselves, others and the environment.
Chair Yoga - Looking for a way to achieve physical and mental fitness? At any age or level of flexibility, bring your body, mind and spirit into alignment with Chair Yoga. Join Rebeccah as we explore yoga postures on a chair and learn limitless breathing exercises and meditation techniques. Learn numerous ways to empower and/or relax your mind and body while staying fit and building muscles. Each “all levels” class accommodates those with extreme limited movement through those who simply prefer to practice yoga on a chair.
A minimum of two students is required to hold class.
