Jenny Everett King

The coordinator of Healing Hands Chiropractic’s Body-Mind Wellness program, Jenny Everett King believes strongly in the value of holistic health practices. Her faith in the power of the mind-body connection is the core of her approach to both yoga and childbirth classes.

In 2002, Jenny graduated magna cum laude from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies in the Great Books, a branch of the college’s Philosophy department. She experimented with yoga throughout college, primarily with videos and a very casual practice of her own. However, it was not until taking regular classes that she began to realize yoga’s benefits. A classic “type A” personality, Jenny found that yoga helped her to relax yet increased her energy level. In addition, she soon discovered that a consistent yoga practice, combined with an already active lifestyle, kept her as physically fit as several hours of traditional cardiovascular exercise and weight training each week. The incredible benefits of yoga led her to pursue a career as a yoga teacher.

Soon after college, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she studied Iyengar yoga intensively under Sara Azarius and several other prominent teachers in the Iyengar system, including Lois Steinberg and Manouso Manos. The Iyengar system of yoga is known for its attention to musculoskeletal alignment and an emphasis on understanding bodily structure and function. Jenny’s classes today are strongly influenced by this training, but also incorporate elements of more flowing yoga styles, including Ashtanga and Kripalu.

Jenny is an ExpertRating Certified Yoga Teacher at the Expert level, and continues to study various hatha yoga styles and practices. She is a member of the International Yoga Association, as well as the Manchester Young Professionals Network and the Southern New Hampshire Women’s Business Network.

Jenny and her husband have two young children, both born naturally with midwives attending. Jenny has used her twin passions for yoga and holistic family wellness to develop Healing Hands Chiropractic’s childbirth education series, Empowered Birth. Her childbirth educator certification through the Cambridge, MA-based ALACE organization is pending.

About Danielle Holland

Danielle

Danielle Holland began practicing yoga in 2002.  She began her practice after anxiety led her to realize that she needed to learn to relax, and that she wanted more out of her life.  She began practicing Baptiste Power Yoga in Boston, Massachusetts, but has attended many different yoga classes and workshops over the years. Recently, she has been studying yoga intensively with Jenny, and is currently working towards her certification as a yoga teacher.

Danielle grew up in Massachusetts and has since moved to Derry, New Hampshire, where she currently resides with her husband and puppy. Danielle is a Registered Nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, and also works as a clinical nursing instructor for Northeastern University. She will complete her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Salem State College in May 2008, and plans to teach nursing.

Danielle used to run and lift weights, but has realized that practicing yoga allows her to retain the same physical exercise benefits while providing much greater mental benefits.  As such, she applies her yoga practice to her everyday life. When dealing with critically ill patients, Danielle shares her relaxation techniques with her patients and families.  Danielle believes strongly in the Mind-Body Connection, and in using meditation and yoga to be in tune with oneself.  Danielle is excited to bring her nurturing profession, education, and experience as a teacher to Healing Hands Chiropractic’s yoga program, and looks forward to sharing the experience of yoga with you.
