Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer a meditation class?
We are excited to being offering weekly meditation classes in September 2008! Please check back frequently for more information.

What is Hatha Yoga? Do you offer Hatha classes?
While there are many different types of yoga, “Hatha” refers to any yoga rooted in a physical practice. The vast majority of yoga practiced in the United States today is Hatha yoga. Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kripalu, Kundalini, and others are all subsets of Hatha yoga. True Yoga classes are hatha yoga classes strongly influenced by Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Kripalu yoga.

I’ve thought about trying yoga, but I’m not very flexible.
You do not need to be flexible to do yoga. A regular practice will increase flexibility over time; therefore, many of the final or advanced yoga poses demand some degree of flexibility. However, since the majority of poses take several years to master, the use of props (especially blocks and straps) is common and encouraged. Yoga poses as they appear in magazines are not what you will see among students in most yoga classes.

I’ve never taken yoga before, but the “Beginner” class doesn’t fit my schedule.
Either Beginner / Intermediate Asana or Multi-Level Asana is appropriate if you are new to yoga. Our classes are kept small, so that you will receive plenty of personal attention and instruction.

What should I bring with me to class?
Please dress comfortably. Layers are recommended. Mats and other props are provided, but feel free to bring your own mat if you have one.
