Reiki & Spiritual Healing

What is Reiki?

Beginning with a mother’s calming hand, touch on a crying child is an instinctive means of relieving pain, and one that we use throughout our lives.  Reiki is a gentle method of hands-on healing for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

The Japanese word "Reiki" is made up of two words - REI is the universal life energy, while KI is the vital energy life force. Originating in ancient Tibet thousands of years ago, Reiki was rediscovered in the mid-1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan.  Though Reiki techniques appear simple, the effects can feel profound.

Reiki can accelerate the healing process for those who are ill, under medical treatment, and/or in the recovery stages. Reiki may not cure your ailment, but will compliment any modalities or medications that you are currently using by offering "side benefits" rather than "side effects."

If your health is already well maintained, experiencing a Reiki treatment will leave you feeling more peaceful and relaxed. Unlike massage, the client is fully clothed during treatment.  The experience is safe for everyone, including babies, children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

What is Spiritual Healing?

You may be satisfied with the life you have but, deep down, do you think you could do more? Be more? Spiritual coaching may be just the thing you need to give you a jump-start on a more fulfilling--and happier--life. I coach from a spiritual basis because I believe that our optimum health comes from a balance of body, mind and spirit. When we become too busy and overwhelmed with our lives, time for ourselves is the first to be sacrificed. This can lead to a “disconnect” of spirit…where we lose contact with our most powerful supporter…our true inner self.

As your coach, I’ll become your partner and help you get to the next level, but my goal will always be your well-being as a person. Coaching is action-oriented, but also holistic in nature. When we work on easing your frustrations or achieving specific goals, our work is based on how these issues reflect who you are as a person and fit into what works for all aspects of your life. Coaching will help you come up with specific steps to reach your full potential by asking you the right questions and then motivating you to follow through with the solutions you discover.

Coaching vs. Therapy: I do not perform therapy on my clients; I am not licensed to do so. Therapists address major emotional issues and try to help clients find context and understanding, based on the past. If a client is in emotional pain, therapy is a better choice than coaching. Coaching addresses business and personal issues and explores them with the idea of an action plan. I help my clients get beyond hurdles as quickly as possible by finding what is lacking, or what might need to be eliminated. Coaching looks for the source of obstacles as a therapist might, but does not deal in introspection or analysis. At times, coaching will cause clients to realize they need therapy if an issue is discovered that does not lend itself to a coaching solution.
