When I was six months pregnant, I started having back pain every time I sat down. My sister suggested I go and see her chiropractor, Dr. Jess. My sister went to Dr. Jess during her pregnancy and spoke very highly of her. I decided to see Dr. Jess for my back pain. It was my first time seeing a chiropractor and I was a bit skeptical at first. The first week, I got adjusted three times. The following week, as my adjustments continued, I could feel a difference. My back was starting to feel better.
Throughout the last trimester of my pregnancy, I continued to see Dr. Jess for regular adjustments. My pregnancy was wonderful. With regular adjustments and exercise, I had a comfortable pregnancy.
My hope was to have a labor and delivery without artificial interventions. As my due date came and went, I wanted to try natural ways to induce my labor. Dr. Jess modified my adjustments to help induce labor. I also heard that Acupuncture can induce labor. Dr. Jess recommended I see Emily. I made an appointment to see Emily a week after my due date. It was my first time seeing an acupuncturist. I was anxious about being poked with needles. To my surprise, the treatment I received from Emily was painless. She placed the needles at pressure points on my hands and feet. During the treatment, I felt relaxed and comfortable. My appointment with Emily was at 4:00pm and on the drive home I started to get cramps. The cramps continued and by 8:00pm I was having contractions. My contractions progressed throughout the night and by 10:30am the next morning my husband and I decided to go to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 11:00am and I was 7 cm dilated! My labor continued to progress and I had my baby boy, Joseph Louis! I am grateful to Dr. Jess and Emily for their help in inducing my labor. I adore my new baby boy! He was born a healthy 8lbs.12oz.
